The Lucini Legacy: Driven by Family. Built to Keep Moving.

The story of Lucini Transportation began in 1959, when the family patriarch secured a school transportation contract in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, with just five buses.

What started as a small family operation grew steadily under the leadership of his son, Bill Lucini, who continued to expand the business while holding on to the values his father instilled in him.

Today, Lucini Transportation operates a fleet of approximately 300 school buses, 70 vans, and additional commercial vehicles and motor coaches. But despite its growth, the company's foundation has remained the same: a dedication to family, employees, and the communities it serves.

For longtime employees, that commitment is more than a philosophy. It's part of their everyday experience. Many have spent decades with the company, transporting generations of local families and developing relationships that extend well beyond the school bus.

"Our people, our employees, we look at as family," Bill shares. "My dad brought me up that way. I've tried very hard to be that way."

Standing Strong When It Matters Most

In 2015, the Lucini family's commitment to one another was tested in ways they never could have anticipated. After experiencing serious heart complications, Bill was hospitalized and faced the possibility of needing a heart transplant. His condition left him in a coma for several weeks, creating an uncertain future for both his family and the business he had spent decades building.

With Bill unable to oversee daily operations, the next generation stepped forward to keep the company moving. At the same time, outside parties began expressing interest in purchasing the business, adding pressure during an already difficult period.

For the Lucini family, selling wasn't the answer. They were determined to preserve what generations before them had worked so hard to build.

During that time, North Easton Savings Bank stood alongside the family, offering the financial support, reassurance, and personal attention they needed to navigate the uncertainty.

"They had come to me and they had said we're in full support of you," Bill's son recalls. "We understand what you're going through yourself right now. Never mind from the business side."

Regular calls and check-ins from the bank provided something beyond financial assistance. They gave the family confidence that they had a partner who understood what was at stake.

"It gave me comfort and it gave me the idea that I was heading in the right direction," he shares.

A lot of people would put their hands up in the air and go home, but we don't do it. We fight through it. We have to.

A Family Legacy That Keeps Moving Forward

Today, Lucini Transportation continues to grow while staying true to the principles that shaped the business from the beginning.

Across multiple generations, the family has demonstrated that perseverance, hard work, and looking out for one another are just as important as the vehicles that keep the operation running. For Bill, seeing the next generations carry on his father's legacy is a source of tremendous pride.

At North Easton Savings Bank, we're proud to support local businesses like Lucini Transportation and the families behind them. Their story is a reminder that great partnerships are built on more than business. They're built on trust, relationships, and being there for one another when it matters most.
