Commercial / Business Financial Assistance
North Easton Savings Bank (NESB) is here to help those that have been financially affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. If you have secured a Federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan with the Small Business Association (SBA), you may be wondering what steps come next and how you can apply for loan forgiveness.
Please be aware that while the SBA has made the loan forgiveness application available, the PPP Portal is not yet accepting loan forgiveness applications. We will let you know as soon as the PPP Portal is ready and available to accept applications.
In the meantime, we encourage our customers to prepare for the PPP Loan Forgiveness phase of this program by reviewing the information below, as well as any of the additional resources provided directly on the SBA website.
General Overview of PPP Forgiveness Request Process
Note: The PPP Portal is not yet accepting applications for PPP Loan Forgiveness. We will provide an update as to when the Portal begins accepting these applications.
- The loan recipient will initiate the forgiveness request process by logging in to the PPP Portal and downloading a fillable PDF application.
- The recipient will then upload the completed application and all forgiveness documentation to the PPP Portal.
- NESB will review the application and verify the documentation submitted by the applicant.
- NESB will contact the loan recipient with any outstanding questions or additional documentation requests.
- If no further documentation or information is required, NESB will submit the application and documentation to the SBA for review and forgiveness determination.
- NESB will contact the customer directly with the SBA’s decision and the amount of loan forgiveness.
- If there is any remaining outstanding loan balance after the forgiveness amount has been applied, NESB will work with the loan recipient to pay back the balance over a period of two years from the date of the loan.
Please refer to the SBA website for additional resources and details regarding PPP Forgiveness requirements, calculators, and timing.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact your lending representative or call our Customer Service center.
